"The International College of Metaphysical Theology has the best curriculum I've seen for studying metaphysical subject matter. In the 25 years that I've taught metaphysics, philosophy, and related subjects, I have seen many schools that provided a "pop-culture" approach, but no real practical knowledge. ICMT provides a solid background in traditional studies as well as classes that develop the intuitive part of self. My experience has shown that this is an important balance that must take place when studying material that stretches one's concepts of reality and how the universe functions.

I can highly recommend ICMT as a course of study that blends traditional and non-traditional subjects into a dynamic, and accredited program."

ICMT Founder & Dean
Dr. James R Grant, Ph.D., D.Min.
dr. jim grant - ICMT

The inspirational path of ICMT Founder, Dr. Jim Grant’s, life led him from his early metaphysical roots to his later work as a worldwide educator.

Following a devastating auto accident that nearly took his life as a teenager, a young Jim Grant began his life-long path of Metaphysical and Psychological study. Six decades later, he recalled the accident and his subsequent recovery as a major turning point in his life. Jim experienced what was to be his first of two near-death-experiences that would dramatically change his perception of life - and guide him toward his work as an international educator in the Metaphysical field.

~~ In Memory of Dr. Jim Grant ~~
~~ July 22, 1939 ~~
~~ February 8, 2019 ~~

It is with great sadness that we announce that UHT Founder,
Dr. Jim Grant, has passed-away.

Jim was laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery
in Florida on Friday, February 15, 2019.

After a long and painful rehabilitation from the accident that nearly took his life, Jim had recovered far beyond his doctor’s expectations. In fact, he was soon strong enough to join the U.S. Navy, where he remained until receiving a medical discharge in 1964. As a civilian, Jim brought his hard work, enthusiasm and determination to the business world this time – and in the period after leaving the military through the mid 1970s, he had achieved top-honors and national recognition in his field.

In 1974, Jim began his studies as a psychology major with California State University – he was drawn to the study of what made the human mind tick – and he thrived in this environment. He soon became president of the Psychology club, a peer counselor and the first manager of the CSU peer-counseling center. After earning his degree from California State University, he was invited to attend the Harbor Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis where he received his certificate of hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy was an exciting new direction that led Jim further in his study of the human mind – and also led to his joining with two

psychologists in their practice, allowing him to further his experience and research.

It was around this time that Jim also rekindled his passion for flying airplanes - accepting a coveted position with the legendary Condor Squadron, a search and rescue unit of the Civil Air Patrol that also performed as a World War II Air Reenactment Squadron. Jim flew the famous AT6, also known as the trainer for the P51 Mustang.

Soon after Jim entered the CSU Masters School of Psychology, an unexpected event led to his taking over the full-time care of his (then 8-year-old) daughter. This was a challenging (but also wonderful) time for Jim – and he made the difficult decision to put his Masters studies on hold for a time. Jim soon returned to his academic work, eventually earning a PhD in philosophy, a Fellowship in Life-Coaching, as well as a second Masters and Doctoral Degree in Metaphysics (D.Min.). Dr. Grant's active work in the field continued until his retirement.

Dr. Grant “officially” retired in 1995 to spend more time conducting personal research in the field of Metaphysics and the Science of the Mind. However, spending all his time in contemplation and conducting research was not for Dr. Jim – and in 2000 he began discussions with the State of Washington Higher Education Coordinating Board concerning his desire to open a new college devoted to Metaphysical Study. It took 2-years to complete the development process and In 2002 the State of Washington's Coordinating Board of Higher Education (renamed as the Washington Student Achievement Council in 2014) granted International College of Metaphysical Theology a Religious-Exptemption required to award college degrees. Under his leadership, ICMT has become a worldwide college of higher education, welcoming students from all over the globe.
